MCPHERSON, Kan. – Republican Richard E. Wilborn from McPherson has announced his candidacy for the 35th District in the Kansas Senate. The seat is currently held by Senator Clark Schultz who is running for Kansas Insurance Commissioner.

Wilborn retired in December of 2009 from the Farmers Alliance Mutual Insurance Company after 40-years. He served 25-years on the executive management team. He now operates Wilborn Consulting, specializing in legislative and regulatory affairs for the insurance industry.

Wilborn is a graduate of Kansas State University and serves on various boards including; chairman of the Kansas Insurance Guaranty Association, and board member of the Western Guaranty Fund Services. He also served as chairman of the McPherson County Republican Party for 12-years.

He and his wife, Pamela, a retired educator, have two sons and five grandchildren. They have resided in McPherson for the past 45 years.

Wilborn says, “The 35th district is a very diverse district; we have fortune 500 companies and major industries, a great agriculture heritage, and an active small business community. Therefore, I believe my private sector experience and understanding of the public process makes me uniquely qualified to serve my friends and neighbors as a member of the Kansas Senate.”
