Robert D. DeVault | 1931 – 2019 |

U.S. Veteran

Robert D. DeVault, 87, of Hutchinson, died August 7, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born October 24, 1931, in Hutchinson, to Leland and Ona (Wiard) DeVault.

Robert graduated from Buhler High School in 1950 and attended Hutchinson Community College for one year, prior to entering the United States Air Force. He was a City Foreman for Western Union and retired after 35 years of service. Robert was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, Paul Revere Masonic Lodge #130 A.F. & A.M., Westminster, CO, and Eastern Star Loyalty Chapter #145, Westminster, CO.

On March 1, 1958, he married Carolyn Sleeper at Warren United Methodist Church in Denver, CO. They shared over 61 years of marriage. He is survived by: wife, Carolyn DeVault, Hutchinson; sons, Daniel (Brenda) DeVault, Greeley, CO, James (Candy) DeVault, Denver, CO; daughter, Janet (Mike) Kraatz, Blue Springs, MO; brothers, John (Norma) DeVault, Bobby Dean (Sharon) DeVault, Gary (DeDee) DeVault; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by: his parents; daughter, Diane Bremer; brothers, Don, Richard, Kenneth, and Keith DeVault; and sisters, Marjorie Baerg, Eileen Griffith and Alice Hollinger.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Larry Brock officiating. Military honors will be conducted by McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with the family present from 1 p.m. until service time on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
