An accident during the noon hour Friday could have been bad, but ended up being minor. The accident involving a 33-year-old woman from St. John.

It was around 12:25 p-m, Friday when deputies were dispatched to a rollover accident with entrapment at 4th and High Point Road.

When they arrived on scene, they saw a Tan Chevy SUV laying on its top in a grove of trees.

This was on the south side of the road. The driver was hanging upside down inside the vehicle due to her seatbelt being on. Deputies were able to get the seat-belt undone and free the driver.

She was identified as Krista Lakey. She was east bound on 4th. It appears she may have suffered a medical problem while driving. She stated that she noticed she was traveling east in the south ditch. She told deputies that she tried to climb out of the ditch but was unsuccessful.

She continued east-bound until she was able to leave the ditch and drive into a field. She says she pushed on the breaks but could not get stopped before she ran in between two trees. She also stuck a fence. After this point, the SUV flipped over onto it’s top. She was able to call 911 while hanging upside down in the SUV.

Lakey did not complain of any injuries at the accident scene, but was still transported by EMS to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center where she was checked over and released.

The SUV was totaled due to the wreck.
