RUSSELL – A nine-year old Russell boy was struck and killed by a train in Russell Thursday morning.

According to a news release from Police Chief Jon Quinday, the boy was hit by an eastbound Union Pacific train about 11:07 a-m, between North Van Houten and North Lincoln Streets.

The juvenile was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
