HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The annual Hutch Rec Salty Dog, Salty Pup triathlons are this Friday and Saturday in Carey Park

The Salty Pup youth triathlon has more than 90 youth competing on Friday starting at 7 p.m. The Salty Dog adult triathlon takes place Saturday at 7 a.m. and features more than 200 adults competing either individually or on teams.

Youth triathletes will swim 100 meters inside the Salt City Splash Aquatic Center; bike 4.2 miles around Carey Park Golf Course; and run one mile along the Jim Martinez Trail. Adult triathletes will swim 400 meters, bike 10.5 miles, and run a 5K in the same locations. More than 50 community volunteers will be working throughout the course.

For these events, Carey Park entrances will be closed starting at 5 p.m. Friday and will re-open around 8:30 p.m. Carey Park entrances will also start closing off at 5 a.m. on Saturday and will re-open around 9:30 a.m.
