School Board Approves Funding to Help Math Programs

The Hutchinson School Board gave approval Monday to spend 30-thousand dollars to have a math consultant work with the district to make sure the district curriculum and practices are aligned with the Kansas College and Career Ready Standards. Dr. Connie Schrock from Emporia State University will work with the district to in an effort to improve math studies in the district.

Also Monday night, the board was told the district’s independent auditor found no significant issues with USD 308’s financial books for fiscal year 2013. Christina Henson with Swindoll Janzen Hawk & Loyd, LLC. gave board members an overview of the independent audit her firm conducted earlier this year. Fiscal year 2013 ran from July 1, 2012, to June 30, 2013.The audit will be posted on the district’s webpage on Tuesday.

And after tabling the matter at their last meeting , the board approved a 1% pay increase for all administrative staff. The cost to the district is about $17,000.000.
