Scott City woman sentenced to prison on charges of second-degree murder and child abuse

SCOTT CITY – A 28-year-old Scott City woman has been sentenced to nearly 15-years in prison for second-degree intentional murder and one count of child abuse.

Marilyn Fay Hoffman was sentenced Friday in Scott County District Court. Judge Wendell W. Wurst sentenced Hoffman to 178-months in the Kansas Department of Corrections.

The crimes occurred on July 10, 2010, resulting in the death of Hoffman’s 3-month-old son.
She has remained in custody since her son’s death, July 13, 2010.

Hoffman entered guilty pleas to the crimes on July 12, 2011.
