TOPEKA, Kan. — Both Hutchinson High School boys and girls teams lost to Washburn Rural High in Wednesday night’s games.

 

GIRLS

The Hutchinson girls were behind from the very beginning and trailed by 12 points at the end of one quarter.

By halftime, the Blues held a 26-9 advantage over the Salthawks.

Hutchinson lost 53-20.

Hutchinson’s Tina Robertson was the team’s top scorer with six points, compared to Rural’s Emma Krueger, who scored 17.

Hutchinson finishes the season 7-13.

 

BOYS

The Salthawk boys ended their season as well.

Hutchinson lost 55-31.

Washburn Rural took a 23-11 lead into halftime.

Hutchinson tried closing the gap in the second half, but Rural pushed back and finished the night with a 55-31 victory.

Tate Webster led Hutchinson with 11 points. That couldn’t compare with Rural’s Joe Berry, who racked up 20.

Hutchinson finishes the season 4-17.
