HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A second of four charged in association with a robbery at knife point back on Aug. 3 entered a plea in the case Monday.

Ryan Reed entered a plea to robbery with a second count of conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery dropped.

The charge he was convicted of is a level five felony with maximum sentence of over 11 years in prison. District Attorney Keith Schroeder says the conviction falls in what is called a border box, meaning the judge can send Reed to prison, or grant some type of probation. Schroeder says he’ll seek prison at sentencing, which will be on Nov. 18 in front of Judge Trish Rose.

One of the co-defendants, Blake Bryant, had earlier entered a plea to robbery and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery and will also be sentenced Nov. 18 in front of Judge Tim Chambers.

Shelby Anderson and Stephen Howard are also charged in the case.

Police say the suspects were drinking and smoking marijuana and decided they needed more cash for cigarettes. They allegedly went to Walmart and tried to break into vehicles, but then spotted the young men on the side of the store. That’s when two of them wrapped their shirts around their heads, pulled a knife and robbed the four of $85.

They were in a vehicle allegedly driven by Anderson. She was detained, but not arrested with the other three. But, was taken into custody later.

The cases against Anderson and Howard are still pending a preliminary hearing.
