WICHITA – The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce that starting April 30, Securus Technologies Inc. will supply collect call telephone services to the inmates at the Sedgwick County Detention Facility and the Work Release Facility.

Securus Technologies Inc. responded to a request for proposal and was chosen because of the reasonable prices charged for calls as well as the quality of their services and technology they will supply to the Sheriff’s Office. All twenty minute collect calls including interstate, intrastate and local calls will be $3.50. This rate is fifty-five cents lower than the previous contract and is within the new federal guidelines for collect inmate calls.

Telephone calls will continue to be monitored and any telephone number that was blocked from receiving calls will remain restricted. Family and friends with inmates in the detention facility are encouraged to contact Securus by telephone at 1-800-844-6591 or online at www.securustech.net to set up a prepaid account. Customers with funds left in their GTL phone accounts after the switchover may contact Global Tel Link at 1-877- 650-4249 to arrange for a refund.

In the near future, Securus will install kiosks in every housing area to allow for video visitation. Additional information and a demonstration of the technology will take place before the go live date.
