WICHITA – An inmate found hanging at the Sedgwick County Detention Facility has died according to Sedgwick County Sheriff’s officials.

It was Tuesday when detention staff found Joseph Gibfried in the dormitory housing unit. The staff administered aid until the arrival of EMS, who then took him to a local hospital. He apparently died of his injuries Thursday.

He had been booked into the jail on multiple warrants through Sedgwick County District Court.
