Sedgwick County Officials investigating the finding of a skull in the city of Cheney

WICHITA – Officials are still investigating the finding of a human skull. It started on January 29, when Cheney Police were called to 737 East Second in that city when potential buyers of the property found the skull while conducting a walk of the grounds.

On February 14, The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by Cheney Police for assistance in their case and helping find the identification of who the skull belonged to.

As of that date, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s officer has assumed the responsibility of the investigation.

After a week of examination, the preliminary finding from an anthropology expert suggests the skull is from a female of African-American descent, between the ages of 35-to-50-years-old.

Detectives are continuing their search of the area.
