Bruce, a Conservative Republican has represented the 34th District since 2005, but is up for re-election and faces a Democratic challenger, that being former State Representative Mark Treaster. Treaster announced early this year, his desire to unseat Bruce.

Bruce, prior to serving in the state Senate worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the Reno County D-A’s Office under Keith Schroeder.

Treaster is the owner and operator of Rainbow International, a carpet cleaning and restoration business and served two terms in the state legislature in the 101st District.
