GREAT BEND – The sentencing for a Great Bend man, found guilty of murder in the killing of a 14-year-old cheerleader has been continued. It had been scheduled for June 8, but now will come at a later date.

In a filing with Barton County District Court dated Tuesday, Judge Hannelore Kitts announced that she was continuing the hearing, not any of the attorney’s. She didn’t spell any reason for the delay, nor did she announce a new date.

38-year-old Adam Longoria was convicted of Capital Murder for the August 2010 death of Alicia DeBolt. However, the state is not seeking the death penalty, rather a life sentence with no chance of ever getting parole.

The teen disappeared the weekend before she was due to start her freshman year at high school. Text messages show she thought she was going to a party. Her remains were found three days later, burned beyond recognition.

Longoria’s team tried to point the finger at others who could have been involved in the killing, but the jury believed it was Longoria who committed the crime.
