Sentencing Hearing For Hutch Man Convicted In New Year’s Rape Case Scheduled Next Week

We now have a new date for sentencing involving a 42-year-old Hutchinson man convicted of attempted rape. The sentencing hearing for Larry Frye Jr., had been scheduled for October 10, but was continued at that time. The sentencing hearing has now been set for Thursday October 31, that according to the District Attorney’s docket.

Frye was originally arrested, accused of raping a 27-year-old Hutchinson woman, but he entered a “guilty” plea to an amended charge of attempted rape as part of a plea agreement with the state.

The alleged rape occurring on New Years Day at a home here in Hutchinson. The case starts with the victim going to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for treatment after the the incident and hospital officials contacted police. The victim didn’t know Frye, with her room-mate apparently bringing him to the home. It was early morning on New Years Day when the alleged encounter occurred.

When the sentencing occurs, it will be in front of District Judge Joe McCarville.
