SIDS education event April 23

HUTCHINSON, Kan — An average of 18.8% of infant deaths in Kansas are attributed to SIDS/sleep-related causes. This makes SIDS/sleep-related deaths the third-leading cause of infant deaths in Kansas.

The Reno County Health Department will hold The Safe Sleep Community Baby Shower Tuesday, April 23, starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Main Street Event Center at 2 N. Main in Hutchinson. Expecting mothers and parents of babies under one year of age are encouraged to attend.

Kris Mayberry, lead family educator for Reno County Head Start, Jill Roberts and Molly Schmidt, maternal child health and family planning nurses for the Reno County Health Department, are trainers for the Kansas Infant Death and SIDS Network.
