HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Siemens/Gamesa Renewable Energy announced the consolidation of its North America and Latin America regions in hopes of attaining greater efficiencies and operational excellence.

The company has named José Antonio Miranda and Darnell Walker as CEOs of its Onshore and Service businesses, respectively.

José Antonio has extensive experience in the wind-power industry and was the Chairman and CEO for the Asian Pacific region of Gamesa.

Darnell Walker brings over 30 years of experience across multiple industries including wind power, aerospace, and manufacturing. He joined Siemens in 2015 as head of the Wind Service Americas business.

The news comes as the newly-merged companies try to established a better foothold in the Americas and is also just ahead of the release of the future business model — scheduled for November, but pushed back to February.

The company also laid off, or will lay off, some 6,000 workers. This includes 140 jobs lost at the Hutchinson facility.
