Siemens Hutchinson turns five years old

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Siemens Hutchinson nacelle plant just celebrated a birthday over the weekend.siemens meeting

The plant turned five years old on Saturday. The plant started with a single production line in October of 2010, producing the 2.3-108 nacelle. Since then, the plant has produced more than 2,640 nacelles and added both a site parts and power unit production lines.

The plant is also preparing to begin manufacturing of Siemens latest turbine, the 2.3-120 nacelle, which will feature a larger rotor span and more efficient internal parts that will allow for use in lighter winds. The New nacelle was rolled out during the AWEA Wind Trade Expo in Orlando, Fla., this past spring. Production is expected to begin in 2017.

Siemens has also given to the community in the past five years as members of the Chamber of Commerce. Siemens also provides 10 scholarships to the Cosmosphere Space Camp programs, participates in the United Way Community Work Day and has donated to Boys and Girls Clubs, First Call for Help and the Salvation Army’s Thanksgiving campaign.

The plant’s employees will celebrate Siemens five years in Hutchinson with birthday cake on Friday.
