Siemens Wind Division has landed five major wind farm projects in Iowa. MidAmerican Energy Co. is beginning construction of its $1.9 billion investment in wind energy, with work starting on five sites across the state.
Earlier this year, the company announced plans to develop up to 1,050 megawatts of additional wind generation in Iowa by the
end of 2015. That includes 448 Siemens wind turbines that will be produced in Hutchinson.
Once completed, the new wind projects will generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of approximately 317,000 average households.
