HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A special field day to discuss the health of soil and how it affects lakes and rivers in the area is coming up next week.

The Reno County Soil Conservation is hosting a field day on August 21 at Kauffman Seed, located 9218 S. Halstead. Lisa French with the Cheney Lake Watershed District, says the area to be discussed covers several counties that drain into Cheney Reservoir:

 

French says one of the major issues this year is weed control due to the recent rains, and will discuss how to deal with them:
