A 19-year-old South Hutchinson man who was granted 36-months community corrections last year in association with a number of burglary and theft cases occurring in 2010 and 2011 was ordered to prison Friday to serve the 148-months underlying sentence. That was decision of Judge Joe McCarville for David Crothers who is in court Friday on a corrections violation.

The state filed the motion after he was arrested back on April 27, for another case of aggravated burglary. He has since been bound over for trial, in fact was scheduled for a pre-trial hearing in the matter for Friday afternoon in front of Judge Trish Rose.

He had been convicted of two counts of burglary, one count of aggravated burglary, three counts of theft and criminal possession of a firearm. The sentenced handed down on September 16, 2011.

Public Defender Sarah Sweet McKinnon argued against him being sent to prison saying he’s not a danger to the community, but Senior Assistant District Attorney Steve Maxwell argued the opposite, citing his latest arrest for aggravated burglary.

He was convicted for burglary and theft of a number of homes in October and November of 2010 where number of items were taken.

In one burglary occurring reported on October 31, of 2010, he stole items such as an Apple I-pod, Playstation 3, X-box-360, Vizio television, Playstation games all totaled worth more then a thousand dollars. One of the other cases occurring on November 16 of 2010, he stold similar items as the last.

On November 19, 2010, he broke into a home and stole another game system, and a flat screen television. On November 29, 2010, he broke into a home and stealing a camera, computer, checks, and a passport.

Then on November 24, 2010, he broke into a home, stealing items such as Playstation games, a guitar, amplifier, safe, foot switch, beer, playstation system and 250-dollars in cash.

But, the most disturbing burglary occurred on November 26, 2010. He reportedly broke into a home and a number of guns were taken including a Winchester rifle, a revolver, two sniper rifles, a Ruger revolver, two assault rifles, rings, rings, an X-box 360, X-box games, two computers, a 37-inch television, and a shotgun.

A trial date will be set for his latest charge of aggravated burglary by Judge Rose, unless at some point he enters a plea in the case.
