Stafford man jailed in aggravated assault case

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 57-year-old Stafford man arrested by Reno County Sheriff’s Deputies is jailed on a $45,000 bond for suspicion of aggravated assault and criminal trespass.

Mark Hornbaker was arrested early Tuesday morning on the charges.

Hornbaker went to a home near 56th & Halstead. He drove onto the property and told the occupant to leave. Hornbaker claimed he owned the property. He eventually left the home, but came back later and tried to run the homeowner over.

There is some concern that Hornbaker may suffer from mental problems.

Sheriff Captain Darrian Campbell says Hornbaker did the same thing in Mount Hope and faces charges in Sedgwick County. He may have done the same thing in Stafford County.

The DA’s Office is finalizing the charges.
