HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 31-year-old Sterling man with a long criminal history was charged with a number of traffic offenses by Hutchinson Police and arrested on a single charge of being in possession of a firearm by a convicted felon by the Reno County Sheriff’s Office.

Russell Craven is alleged to have been involved in a hit-and-run accident in the unit block of West B, where he allegedly struck a vehicle owned by TECH.

He was later located by the Reno County Sheriff’s Office in Nickerson where he was found to be in possession of a firearm.

Craven was released from the Department of Corrections back in February. Convictions include burglary, theft, criminal damage, criminal possession of a firearm and drug-related charges. Most of the convictions occurred in Rice County, but the drug convictions occurred here in Reno County.

He made a first appearance Thursday morning where the $1,500 bond was cut in half. He should be back in court next week.
