HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The 29-year-old man arrested in association with an accident at 10th & Main in Hutchinson was expected back in court Wednesday where he was supposed to enter a plea in two cases. That has now been continued. 

One of the cases involves a chase where Matthew J. Munoz ran a stop sign and struck an Rcat bus.

Charges in that case include two counts of aggravated battery, four alternate counts of flee and elude with the four different theories of that crime, interference with law enforcement, criminal damage and driving while suspended.

The truck he was driving was reported stolen by the owner on Medora Road in the county. He faces a charge of theft of the truck, an arc welder and a band saw.

It all started just before 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, when an officer attempted to stop a suspected stolen vehicle in the area of 7th and Adams. The vehicle was a 2012 Dodge Ram 3500 flatbed.

At the intersection of 10th and Main, Munoz ran a stop sign and struck an Rcat bus that was traveling southbound on Main. After the collision with the Rcat bus, the truck came to rest in the unit block of East 10th.

Munoz fled on foot and was apprehended approximately two blocks from the scene. There were four occupants of the bus that received minor injuries from the collision.

The hearing has been continued and Munoz remains jailed on a bond of $100,525.
