One of three suspected in the church crimes can add another count of burglary. 24-year-old Justin Branscom is now charged with another count of burglary. This has to do with the break in at the Crossroad’s Christian Church at 43 rd & Monroe.

But, Darrian Campbell with the Sheriff’s Department told us that others may be charged in the case, including an adult female, and juvenile male. That female is Desiree Mahoney according to Campbell who is free on bond for a three counts of burglary, three counts of theft, and three counts of criminal damage to property.

Branscom, along with 19-year-old Jordon Schmucker and 16-year-old Joshua Hickey are suspected in the church crimes in the city.

The three were arrested based on a Crime Stoppers tip received back on August 3. The tip in conjunction with the ongoing investigation led to the arrest of three suspects and cleared
15- burglaries.

Branscom is now charged with 5-counts of burglary, 1-count of theft, criminal damage to property, and criminal trespass.

Hickey is charged with 14-counts of burglary, 14-counts of criminal damage and 12-counts of theft. He is not only suspected in the burglary of churches, but also burglaries of the Dillon’s at 13 th & Main, and the Pic-Quik on South Main.

Schmucker is charged with 5-counts of burglary, 5-counts of criminal damage and 4-counts of theft.

The investigation is continuing.

In a related story, Joshua Hickey and another 15-year-old juvenile were apprehended after escaping the recreation yard of Reno County Youth Services Thursday by climbing over the fence. Both were transported back to Bob Johnson’s Youth Detention and charged with aggravated escape from custody.
