Suspect in South Hutchinson Child Sexual Abuse Case Bound Over For Trial

A 25-year-old Clinton, Missouri man arrested in a Reno County child sex case was bound over for trial Monday for alleged inappropriate touching of an 8 year-old girl.

Erik Wayne Reyes is charged with one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child for touching the girl while staying with relatives. The alleged crime occurring back on June 5, 2011 in South Hutchinson. The charge is an off-grid felony which means he could be looking at a life sentence with no chance for parole for 25-years under Jessica’s Law.

The case came to light after the aunt of the victim called South Hutchinson Police. Officer Jake Graber took the stand and told of being called to the seen, and then told what happened by the victim. He says the aunt began to strike him with a hair-dryer.

The victim also took the stand and told the court of what happened, saying she was sleeping on the couch and he took her to a bedroom where the alleged encounter happened. She was barely audible as she gave her testimony, but through her testimony pointed the finger at Reyes as the one who molested her.

Judge Joe McCarville found there was enough evidence to send that case to arraignment, and possibly a trial. Arraignment will be on September 12 at 9 a-m, in front of Judge Trish Rose.

Reyes remains jailed on a 100-thousand dollar bond.
