Suspect in stabbing case scheduled for hearing Monday

Richard Manwarren

A 46-year-old Hutchinson man arrested on March 4, on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault is scheduled to be in court Monday for a preliminary hearing.

Richard Manwarren Sr., allegedly stabbed 37-year-old Randy Dowers as well as causing multiple cuts to his hands. 49-year-old Kimberly Hopper alleges that she has been threatened with a knife by Manwarren during the same incident.

Apparently Dowers and Manwarren had been to a local bar and drinking, then came back to Dowers home and were drinking some more. Hopper then came home and began doing laundry and Manwarren grabbed a butcher knife in the kitchen and then attacked Dowers.

Dowers was treated at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for his wounds. Manwarren was taken to jail on a 10-thousand dollar bond.

The hearing Monday is scheduled in front of Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen, but as always, hearings are subject to change.
