SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The man South Hutchinson Police were looking for last week that caused them to lock down the South Hutchinson Elementary School for about 30 minutes was arrested by Hutchinson Police on Tuesday.

Travis Boyd was wanted for a Class B misdemeanor here in Hutchinson, but may also have warrants for cases in another county. He was apparently in the custody of a local bonding company that was trying to get him to court. He got cold feet and ran from them, causing police to become involved. He was allegedly in possession of a gun at the time.

He was reported to be in the area of Avenue B and Poplar in South Hutchinson. Since he was thought to be armed, the police placed the school in lockdown as a precaution. He was not found until Tuesday.

The charge in Reno County is for criminal damage to property for a case from December. But, he’s also on corrections for a case out of Ford County that includes convictions for distribution of drugs and criminal possession of a firearm. That case is from 2014.

Boyd also has prior convictions for burglary, possession of opiates, criminal possession of a firearm and no tax stamp. Those convictions are also out of Ford County

South Hutchinson Police Chief Scott Jones says it’s possible that additional charges could be filed against Boyd for the incident last week.

Boyd is jailed on bonds totaling $26,500.
