Test Cutting for wheat underway in Reno County

Some test cutting is underway in Reno and Stafford counties and the wheat harvest could be under way in the area by Thursday and into full swing by the start of next week.

Although the wheat looks good in the filed, some elevators are reporting less than desired results. The Kanza Coop in Stafford reported to Eagle Media that the very dry conditions has hurt the crop, with the wheat coming in small and in a shriveled condition.

The same results came out form a test cut at the Coop in Pretty Prairie. Most elevators report that its simply too wet to cut at this time but, with the hot windy weather in the forecast the harvest will get under way quickly.
