New moms in Reno County have a better chance of hearing about Text4Baby, thanks to a $1,000 grant from the Kansas Early Childhood Advisory Council and Kansas Project LAUNCH. Reno County was one of 32 programs in Kansas to receive funding to promote enrollment in the program between September and December, 2013.

Text4Baby provides pregnant women and new moms information to help them care for their health and give their babies the best possible start in life. Women sign up for the service by texting BABY to 511411 (or BEBE in Spanish), and they receive free text messages each week timed to their due date or baby’s date of birth.

The grant was awarded to Hutchinson Community Foundation, and the Reno County Health Department who is the lead partner in the Text4Baby promotional effort. Outreach plans include providing enrollment information through health care providers and community agencies, along with promotion in local media.
