Three men busted for possession of 2.5-pounds of marijuana.

Three men were arrested by the Reno County Drug Unit about 5 p-m Monday afternoon for being in possession of a good amount of high grade marijuana.

Charged with possession of marijuana and having no drug tax stamp was 27-year-old Travis Davis, 28-year-old Dustin Goff, both of Hutchinson, and 26-year-old Shane Hughes of South Hutchinson.

Drug Unit officials tell us they had been investigating the trio and then got a warrant Monday to search the truck the three were in. They had a sheriff deputy make a traffic stop in the 6900 block of North K-61.

Allegedly, they found a suitcase in the back seat of the vehicle next to Davis that contained 2.5 pounds of the marijuana which according to the drug unit had an initial value of 10-thousand dollars. But, once sold would bring in considerably more in profit.

The three were taken to jail on 6-thousand dollar bonds. Hughes was able to post bond, while the other two were in court Tuesday morning for a first appearance. Both asked for reductions of bonds which were denied. They will be back in court a week from tomorrow, if not sooner, depending on if and when the state files formal charges. Because Hughes posted bond, he will appear at a later date.
