After they removed the time capsule from 100-years ago earlier, they discovered that the items left inside were in great shape and a good crowd to witness it all.

The city of Hutchinson, the Landsmarks Commission, the Reno County Museum and Downtown Hutchinson staged a re-enactment Monday evening for the events which occurred 100-years ago when President William H. Taft helped place the time-capsule inside the corner stone of what is now known as Memorial Hall.

It was removed recently, and then opened Monday evening in Memorial Hall.

The event started with with a procession of dignitaries giving speeches and then residents were allowed inside the hall for the opening which was shown on a large screen.

Residents were then allowed to view the items, many photos from that era, as well as documents.

Plans are to place another time capsule in the building next April that will be opened 100-years from now.
