Tough night for area high school football teams

After picking up their first win of the season, a very offensive-minded Salina Central team was too much to overcome as the Hawks lost Friday night by a score of 62-20. As has been the case this season, the Salthawk defense struggled to keep the Mustangs out of the end zone while a couple of early turnovers got Hutch in a hole early. The Salthawks are now 1-3 on the season.

Buhler took one on the chin in a close game with Mulvane as the Wildcats downed the Crusaders 39-29. Quarterback Colton Goans was 15 of 23 for 281 yards and four touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough as Buhler falls to 2-2 on the season.

The Celtics of Trinity Catholic also lost as they dropped their first game of the season at Conway Springs 22-8. It’s the second week in a row that the Celtic offense struggled to put points on the board. TC is now 3-1.

After playing three tough opponents to start the season, the Nickerson Panthers finally got on the winning side of things as they downed Holcomb in a big way 27-7 to move to 1-3 on the year.

Haven had a tough night with Andale, as most opponents have already this season. The Wildcats fell 65-0.
