We now have a trial date for one of the two men suspected in the murder of Jennifer Heckel last summer. Charles Logsdon will face a jury on September 24 with a motion deadline set in the case for July 31. That date set Friday by Judge Trish Rose.

Co-defendant, 48-year-old Billy Craig Jr’s., jury trial is tentatively set for July 17, but he being tried separately and his case will be before Judge Tim Chambers.

The two are charged with first degree murder, conspiracy to commit first degree murder, conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and being a felon in possession of a firearm, in association with the death of 27-year-old Jennifer Heckel. She was shot and killed in her home at 501 Coronado back on June 14 of last year. Evidence suggest she was a victim of mistaken identity.

Logsdon also faces trial for a charge of aggravated battery. He’s accused of shooting Eric Harbacek in the leg after an altercation on November 26, 2010.

In that case, the victim was shot in the leg at a south side Hutchinson home after an argument over prison stuff .

Judge Chambers set a trial date of May 22, in that case, with a motions deadline for both sides already passed.

In the murder case, both men could see the state seek a Hard 50 sentence, if they’re convicted.
