A Turon man accused of trying to entice or solicit a child 14-16 years of age was in court Monday where he entered a no contest plea to attempted aggravated indecent liberties with a child.

Jon Timothy Herrmann had earlier been charged with electronic solicitation where he was accused of using a telephone or other electronic means to text the child hoping they would agree to commit or submit to an unlawful sexual act. The alleged crime occurring on July 6, of last year.

The new charge is a level six person felony with a sentencing range of 17-to-46 months in prison depending on his criminal history.

The case was scheduled for a jury trial according Senior Assistant District Attorney Steve Maxwell, but both sides were able to come to an agreement for the plea. Maxwell says both sides will be able to argue the sentencing. If he has no other criminal history, he could be granted some form of probation.

Sentencing is set for June 1, in front of Judge Trish Rose.
