Retired Judge Steve Becker who resides in the Buhler area announced Tuesday that he will seek the house seat held by Kansas House Speaker Mike O’Neal, that being the 104th district.

There have been rumors around Hutchinson that Judge Becker was considering a run against O’Neal. Now, he’s made it official with his filing with the Kansas Secretary of States Office.

But, he is not the only legislator to get a challenger.

Democrat Carol Moore of Hutchinson has also filed with the Kansas Secretary of States office to run against current Republican House member representing the 101st district, that being Joe Seiwert of Pretty Prairie.

That means there will some excitement in this years election heading into the August 7, primary election here in Reno County.
