HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 25-year-old man is now facing two cases where he’s charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute.

In the first case, Jimmy Jerome Simpson II is also charged with felony theft and unlawful plans to transmit proceeds from drugs.

The case goes back to May 20 when a search warrant was conducted at a Hutchinson home on Center Street and officers say they found 325 grams of marijuana split between baggies and a large glass container, as well as other paraphernalia and what they say was a stolen handgun.

The second case goes to a search warrant being served at a home in the 400 block of East 8th. That was back on Nov. 3.

In this case, Simpson and a Hutchinson woman, Veronica Alvarez, were present and officers say they found 451 grams of high-grade marijuana in baggies in the master bedroom and jars of marijuana in the rafters in the basement. Also found was a digital scale and other drug paraphernalia.

Both are free on bond and appeared in court to hear Judge Joe McCarville read the distribution charges in the second case.

The cases against the two are now pending a preliminary hearing.
