A 31-year-old man already facing felony charges involving a strong armed robbery back in December now faces more charges after a shooting incident on Hutchinson’s southeast side Sunday.
Just after 2:30 p-m, Hutchinson Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of East Avenue C on the report of multiple gunshots. They apparently found several shell casings on the roadway. A search of the area revealed that at 1105 East Avenue C, multiple bullet holes were found in the north side of the home. A short time later, Daniel Coronado arrived at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center by private vehicle with a gunshot wound to his foot. He underwent surgery and is in stable condition.
Further investigation revealed five adults and two children where in the residence when the shooting occurred. There were no other reported injuries.
Justin Gleason of 404 1/2 East 10th, was arrested by Goddard Police Sunday night and is jailed on seven counts of criminal discharge of a firearm, one-count of criminal possession of a firearm, and one count of aggravated battery. Also arrested was 22-year-old Holly Caudillo of 3202 North Waldron. She was charged with seven-counts of criminal discharge of a firearm and one-count of aggravated battery.
Gleason made a first appearance on the charges and quickly complained about his bond of 516-thousand dollars being to high saying it should only be 45-thousand. But, Senior Assistant District Attorney Steve Maxwell says he used a glock-45 to fire multiple rounds into this home where there were two children inside. Plus, they did a search of his home on east 10th, where they allegedly found 16-grams of crack cocaine, and 9-mm ruger. Gleason then yelled through the video hookup from the Reno County Jail that they didn’t find any Glock gun on him. Maxwell also argued that Gleason is an “imminent” threat to the community, and that really set Gleason off. He got so disruptive that Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen recessed the hearing until Tuesday morning to give Gleason time to calm down.
Caudillo’s is free on a 45-thousand and will make an appearance at a later time.
Gleason is already facing charges of attempted robbery, attempted aggravated burglary, criminal threat and blackmail, where he allegedly sent text messages to the victim and told him he better have the money, and was coming over to collect. Senior Assistant District Attorney Steve Maxwell alleges he was extorting money from the victim over crack cocaine.
When Gleason showed up at the victims home just after 12:30 a-m on December 15, police were already aware of what was happening and were there waiting and he was arrested on the charges. That case is still pending.
