Two Rice County men caught breaking into a vehicle in east Hutchinson on Friday were back before a judge Wednesday morning for the reading of charges against them.

20-year-old Timothy Smith of Lyons and 19-year-old Gideon Norman of Alden were caught breaking into a vehicle and were arrested, but now face many other charges.

Both men are charged with possession of methamphetamine, two counts of aggravated burglary, four counts of theft of local businesses all within a 72-hour period, two counts of misdemeanor theft, and personal use drug paraphernalia.

All of the crimes allegedly occurring on December 16, and the four businesses include Wal-Mart, Sears, K-Mart and Hobby Lobby. The two auto burglaries involved two seperate victims.

Smith is free on a 10-thousand dollar bind, while Norman remains in the Reno County Jail and again asked for help from the judge to be set free, saying he wants to get back to school. That was denied.

Both will be back in court next month for a waiver-status hearing.
