On July 11, 2013, the Sedgwick County Sheriff Office started a criminal investigation into the possible crimes of making false information, official misconduct, theft and misuse of public funds.

Officials say the investigation was centered on two commissioned deputies who work in the transportation section of the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.

During the two week investigation, the sheriff’s office found enough probable cause that the two deputies had committed these crimes. On Tuesday, the two deputies were arrested and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail. The first deputy was charged with two counts of making false information. The second deputy was charged with two counts making false information and one count of official misconduct.

The case was submitted to the District Attorney’s office and charges were filed Tuesday.

Sedgwick County Sheriff officials indicate that this is an example of how law enforcement officers are not above the law and that they will always investigate any crime with the due diligence that the public entrusts in them.
