HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Two Wichita men were arrested by the Reno County Sheriff’s Department after they were allegedly involved with a stolen vehicle out of Hesston.
Twenty-year-old Raymond Pero and 25-year-old Johnathan Dills were both seen walking down Buhler-Haven Road. The sheriff’s office, after an investigation, was convinced that they were involved with a stolen vehicle that was found abandoned on Buhler-Haven Road.
The two had claimed they were coming from Hesston and trying to get to Moundridge. The deputies ran a check of the tag on the vehicle and it was reported stolen in Hesston.
The arrest of the two came around 7 a.m. Thursday and charges include possession of stolen property, burglary and theft.
In court Friday, they were able to convince Magistrate Judge Cheryl Allen to lower their bonds to $5,500, but denied their request for OR bonds.
Both will be back in court next week for the reading of any formal charges.
