HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The latest numbers from the Kansas Department of Labor show the unemployment rate for Hutchinson went up very slightly, while the rate for Reno County was unchanged from April.
The rate for Hutchinson is at 3.9 percent, up from 3.8 percent in April and also May of last year.
The rate for Reno County remains at 3.6 percent, which is slightly below the rate of 3.7 percent in May of last year.
There were 1,063 residents of the county looking for work last month, most of those in Hutchinson.
The rates for surrounding counties stayed basically the same as in April, with no big swings either way.
For the state of Kansas as a whole, the numbers show a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.4 percent in May, unchanged from April and down from 3.6 percent in May 2017.
