HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The latest unemployment numbers show an increase in those looking for work. The unemployment rate for Hutchinson rose to 4% in July compared with a 3.3% rate in June. However, that rate is lower than the 4.2% in July of last year.

The rate for Reno County also went up, according to the Kansas Department of Labor. Reno County had a rate of 3.8% last month compared with 3.2% in June. The rate in July of last year was at 4%.

1,105 residents of the county were seeking employment, according to the report, with most of those living in Hutchinson.

For the entire state, Kansas had a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.3% in July. This was down from 3.4% in June and unchanged from 3.3% in July 2018.
