HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The latest numbers from the Kansas Department of Labor show the unemployment rate for Hutchinson came down some last month from where it was in July.

According to the numbers, the rate for Hutchinson is right at 4 percent. That’s down from 4.3 percent in July and the 4.6 percent for August of last year.

There were 1,118 residents looking for work last month, most live in Hutchinson.

The rate for Reno County also saw a decline going from 4.1 percent in July to 3.8 percent last month and 4.4 percent in August of 2017.

All of the surrounding counties also saw a decline in their rates.

Statewide, the preliminary estimates showed a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.3 percent last month, down from 3.4 percent in July and 3.6 percent in August 2017.
