After a big jump in the unemployment rate last month, that number has dropped again according to the latest figures from the Kansas Department of Labor.
The unemployment rate for Hutchinson for April is at 6%, a drop from 7.2% in March and also better then April of last year when the rate was 6.2%. The number of folks looking for work in April was at 1-thousand, 282.
Reno County’s rate is at 4.9% in April a big drop from the March number when the rate was at 5.9%. That’s also better then in April of last year when the rate was at 5.1%.
The states seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for April declined from 5.8 % to 5.3 %, while the smooth seasonally adjusted number saw a slight decline from 5.6% to 5.5%.
