TOPEKA, Kan. – The Kansas Department of Labor released the June unemployment numbers that show the rate going up in both the city of Hutchinson and Reno County.

According to the numbers, the unemployment rate for the city in June was at 4.6 percent, up from 4 percent in May and matches the rate for June of last year.

Reno County in June had a rate of 4.5 percent, up from 3.8 percent in May and up slightly from June of last year when the rate was 4.4 percent.

There were 1,405 residents looking for work in the county last month with 906 of those in the city of Hutchinson.

All of the surrounding counties also saw an increase in their rates as well.

The state’s June seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.8 percent. This was up from 3.7 percent in May and down from 4.2 percent in June 2015.
