HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Volunteers make a difference during the United Way Community Work Day!

United Way Community Work Day is an opportunity for the community to come together in groups large and small to volunteer and do hands on projects for local non-profits and seniors that need assistance.

Approximately 500 volunteers will paint houses for Brush Up Hutch, clean up Carey Park, work at the Boys and Girls Club, repair the playground at the Early Education Center, create a community garden at Ave A Elementary School just to name a few

The day will start with breakfast at DCI Park between 7:00 and 8:00 on Saturday, then they’ll then be sent off to start their good works at their project sites by 8:30 a.m. The volunteers include 50 kids from HMS 7 who will be on hand Saturday to also help work on a community project for United Way.

The Community Work Day precedes United Way of Reno County’s kick off of the annual fund raising campaign which starts Monday, Sept 1, 2016. This year the goal is to help raise $1.5 million for local nonprofits here in our community.
