A 7-year-old boy was struck while riding their bike south-bound on Main. The child was in the crosswalk on the west side of Main at 9th Street when a man driving a GMC pickup was northbound on Main and attempted to make a left turn onto 9th, and struck the child while they were crossing 9th Street.

The child identified as Devon Lee White-McArthure was transported by Reno County E-M-S to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center with lacerations to his body and face.

The driver of the pickup 28-year-old Tyler Scott Arreguin was arrested for aggravated battery, DUI, and no insurance. He told police he didn’t see the child as he made a left turn. He also allegedly admitted that he had drank some beers prior to the accident.

9th Street was blocked off for a half block going west from Main while police and other emergency personnel worked the scene.

This again occurring around 7:38 p-m, by the Hutchinson Library or just north of the Eagle Media Center.
