HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Officers of the Hutchinson Police Department are still investigating the homicide case on East 30th.

Police Capt. Troy Hoover says officers were dispatched around 6:34 a.m. Friday to a residence located at 1701 E. 30th on the report of a shooting, but Hoover believes the shooting occurred earlier in the morning and that someone came into the residence and discovered the body around 6:30 a.m.

As officers arrived, they found a deceased male with apparent gunshot wounds.

A suspect is in custody. Hoover says they have dealt with both the victim and the suspect in the past and that police have been to the home for issues in the past.

Hoover says they’re still awaiting verification that the deceased’s next of kin has been notified. Upon verification, names of the individuals involved will be released.

This investigation is still underway.
