UPDATE: Sheriff identifies 16-year-old driver, Reno Co. man who died in crash

RENO COUNTY — One person died in an accident just after 2 p.m. Monday in Reno County.

The sheriff’s office reported a vehicle driven by Annabelle Gaston, 16, Plevna, was eastbound on Arlington Road. As the vehicle approached the S curve leading into Arlington, it left the road, traveled into the north ditch and rolled in a field.

Matthew Stansbury, 26, Sylvia, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gaston and two other passengers — identified as Katherine Blake, 21, and Lakrista Ligget, 18, both of Sylvia — were transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

All four were ejected and none were wearing seat belts, according to the Reno County Sheriff’s Department. The accident is still under investigation. Speed is believed to have been a factor, according to the sheriff’s department.

ARLINGTON, Kan. — Just after 2 p.m. Monday, Reno County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a single-vehicle rollover accident on the west edge of Arlington. When they arrived, officers discovered one vehicle on its top.

The vehicle had four passengers, one was trapped under the vehicle. Three of the passengers were female and one was male. The male was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. The three females were transported by EMS to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center where they are being treated for their injuries.

Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was eastbound on Arlington Road when it approached the S curves leading into Arlington. The vehicle continued off the roadway into the northbound ditch and rolled into the field.

Names are not being released until notifications have been made.

ARLINGTON, Kan. — One person was killed and three were injured in a single-vehicle accident near Arlington Monday afternoon.

According to Reno County 911, the accident happened just west of Arlington on Arlington Road about 2 p.m. No names have been released at this time. The three injured were taken by EMS to the hospital. Two suffered serious injuries and the third person was critical.

No other details have been made available from the Reno County Sheriff’s Department.

More details will be released when they become available.
